Spartanburg, South Carolina

Spartanburg:  A quaint city, more like a little suburban town that offers a rich musical legacy in its own right.   The feeling of this city is more family oriented and appears to have a great atmosphere that couple who just wants a "quiet" getaway to fall in love all over again.  Spartanburg known as the Hub City based on its prime location in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains and its role with the railroad.

Our tour of Spartanburg took us to the following...........

This is a 30-minute self-guided outdoor walking  tour similiar to a scavenger hunt but with a map.

Per the information on the back of the brochure - "Some cities celebrate their war heroes, other their sports stars, but in the Hub City, it's all about musicians."

The Spartanburg Music Trail honors musicians from Spartanburg who have made a national or international impact in the world of music.

Come explore with me, the Walnut Grove Plantation.  The Walnut Grove Plantation is the home of Charles and Mary Moore family who were among the first British colonists to settle in Upstate South Carolina during the Colonial and Revolutionary Era.

Today, the Spartanburg County Historical Association operates the Walnut Grove Plantation an is a non-profit organization dedicated to exploring and preserving the region's history by collecting and sharing the stories and artifacts of the people who shaped that history.

For all History Buffs, no matter what side you stand for - the Union or the Confederate - this is  a must see regarding the 1760's.  This plantation tells the stories of the free and enslaved people who settled South Carolina an the rest of Britain's American colonies, fought for independence and built a new nation in the South.
